READ ON DURING WINTER BREAK!

Image

Winter Break is a great time to curl up with a good book!  Here are some recommendations for K-5 from our LRC Directors Mrs. Baughman and Mr. Melka!

Mrs. Baughman recommends:

  • The 12 Sleighs of Christmas by Sherri Duskey Rinker is a great holiday choice by an author who visited Tate Woods a few years ago.
  • After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again by Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat
  • Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds. This is his sequel to his much loved Creepy Carrots. This author also visited Tate.
  • Poetry by Kwame Alexander: Animal Ark and Out of Wonder are two of his newer titles.

Mr. Melka recommends:

Kindergarten

  • We're All Wonders (Palacio)

  • - What do you do with a Problem (Yamada)

3-5

  • Wonder (Palacio)

  • Wishtree (Applegate)

  • My Journey to the Stars (Kelly)

Our LRC Directors also remind us..."Bookstores and the Lisle Public Library are inspiring places to spend a few hours over vacation. Check the Lisle Public Library Winter Read Program to keep your students engaged over the holidays!"

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

School Visitor Procedures

Effective upon returning from the holiday break, all visitors to Lisle 202 schools will be required to leave their driver's license or state I.D. in the school office. The license will be returned after checking out at the office. The only exception to this new step in our procedure is during large events, such as holiday parties and grade level celebrations at the elementary schools. Visitors will still be checked in via our raptor system during these events. This additional measure will allow school administrators to ensure the safety and accountability for all in our buildings.
