Dr. Patricia Wernet named superintendent
LISLE, IL (Dec. 17, 2007) — The Lisle Community School District 202 Board of Education appointed Dr. Patricia Wernet Monday as the District’s new superintendent, effective July 1, 2008. She follows Dr. J. Peter Lueck, who will be retiring at the end of the school year after serving the district as superintendent for 11 years.
Dr. Wernet has served as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, assistant principal, principal, acting coordinator of special education, gifted coordinator and safe schools coordinator in Palos School District 118 and Evergreen Park School District 124. For the past four years, she has been the superintendent in South Berwyn School District 100.
“I am very excited to be named the new superintendent in Lisle Community School District 202,” Dr. Wernet said. “This is one of the finest school districts in the State of Illinois where faculty, administrators and board members are second to none. It is a district that is strong in academics, has incredible support from community and family members, and is always focused on what is best for children.”
Pam Ahlmann, President of the Lisle School District 202 Board of Education said that Dr. Wernet brings multi-faceted experience to the district.
“We are exceptionally pleased about Dr. Wernet joining our school district,” Ahlmann said. “Her background supports and will enhance our existing programs. She is someone who is going to continue to move us forward.”
Dr. Wernet earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in elementary education and special education from Governors State University. She earned her doctorate degree in administrative leadership magna cum laude from Aurora University.
Her career in South Berwyn School District 100 has been highlighted by her collaboration with staff, parents and community members. The District’s long-range planning process and school improvement process both included significant input from stakeholders. This resulted in seven schools receiving the Spotlight School Awards and academic improvement awards from the Illinois State Board of Education. Additionally, all schools and the District have made Adequate Yearly Progress as determined by the criteria set forth in the federal legislation known as No Child Left Behind.District 100’s new teacher and administrative evaluation plan is focused on student and adult learning. Additionally, District 100 implemented a variety of new instructional strategies which resulted in significant improvement in student achievement.
Dr. Wernet is married to Todd Wernet, assistant superintendent in Lockport Township High School District 205. They have three children.
