Abraham Lincoln Visits Schiesher School
4th Graders Transported Back in Time to 1860's
A VISIT FROM MR. LINCOLN
Fourth-graders welcomed the arrival of the 16th President of the United States to Schiesher on January 24, 2008. Abraham Lincoln, portrayed so authentically by Richard F. (Fritz) Klein, quickly transported the students back in time to the 1860’s by sharing stories about his life with folksy humor and at times emotional reflection. Topics such as debates, slavery and the Civil War brought an insightful meaning to this living history event. Following the presentation, an interactive question and answer session provided a wealth of additional information about Lincoln that remained with the students long after the assembly ended. Mr. Klein’s timely visit as Lincoln was a perfect way to conclude the time spent in fourth grade studying about famous people and Illinois history.
