Mr. Josh Lund, "Mystery Reader"

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

"Green Eggs and Ham" voted favorite Dr. Seuss Book!

by Sue Jakalski

Monday, March 3rd was the birthday of Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, one of the best loved children’s authors of all time. To celebrate this day and join in with the National Education Association’s Read Across America Celebration, students were re-introduced to our library’s Dr. Seuss titles and asked to vote for their favorite. Mrs. Jakalski, Schiesher librarian, promised them that the winning title would be read over the public address system by a “mystery reader”.  As promised, on Tuesday, March 4th, our “mystery reader,” Mr. Josh Lund, technology assistant, captivated our students with his reading of the winning title, Green Eggs and Ham. After the reading, classes were asked to guess the name of the mystery reader and send their choice to Mrs. Jakalski to be entered into a drawing for Dr. Seuss bookmarks.  Out of the eight classes that guessed correctly, Ms. Mizen’s class won the drawing for bookmarks. Ms. Mizen’s students, who had just finished creating their own favorite Dr. Seuss book reviews, were thrilled to learn that they had won the bookmarks!
