"Dr. Einstein Fermi" visits Mrs. Barker's class
3rd Grade Students Learn About American Inventors
Third Graders in Mrs. Barker's class are learning about American inventors and their inventions. It's been amazing to find out that some everyday object such as the present-day yo-yo was actually used earlier as a tool for hunting, and that the ice cream soda was mistakenly invented one day when Robert M. Green ran out of sweet cream for his soda fountain drinks, so he substituted vanilla ice cream instead!
Not only that, we learned that anyone can become an inventor; men, women and children! To help us on our way to becoming Jr. Inventors, Dr. "Einstein Fermi" visited our class to share his inventions and encouraged us to "think outside the box," and create our own invention. Learning about inventors and their inventions has been fun. Trying to create one has been challenging, but it has also taught us that we can be inventors too!
Thanks, Dr. Fermi, for coming to visit our class!
