Lisle School District 202 Board of Education Highlights July 21, 2008
Hazardous busing routes approved
Since 1995, Lisle School District 202 Board of Education has annually approved busing all kindergarten and first- and second-grade students who must cross a four-lane highway between their legal residence and the school they attend. No additional routes were needed for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year.
The Board of Education approved the hazardous routes that require busing, but is reviewing several existing routes for any changes including 202-92-2 (Route 53 south of Short Street) 202-92-1 and 202-91-1 (Main Street at Short Street), and 202-86-1 (Garfield Street north of Burlington from Ogden Avenue to Burlington). These routes require that free busing be provided to the affected students and have been approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation. For a complete list of hazardous routes, click here.
Closed session minutes available
The Lisle School District 202 Board of Education semi-annually reviews the minutes of closed session meetings. At its meeting July 21, the board approved the release of closed session minutes from Jan. 28, 2008 through June 16, 2008, with the exception of May 19, 2008, and June 16, 2008, and any other closed session meeting minutes, which have previously been determined to be of a confidential nature prior to Jan. 28, 2008.
Summer construction projects underway
Several construction projects are currently underway in Lisle School District 202 and all are scheduled to be completed by the start of school. Roof work began in mid-July at Lisle Junior High School and parking lot patching and striping at the district’s four buildings will be ongoing for the rest of the summer. Also at the junior high, the gravel area behind the school will be paved. This will allow easier vehicular access; eliminate the cost of annually maintaining the area with additional gravel; and will mitigate the dust and debris that is carried into the school. At Lisle Senior High School, a new sidewalk has been installed, extending from Short Street to the entrance. This provides safer access for students who park in the Lisle Park District lot, which is located across the street from the high school.
