PAWS Program
Good Deeds Recognized at Schiesher School
September 06, 2009
The PAWS Program was developed as a way to continue with our “good citizen of the month” program. It was determined that there was also a need to recognize students in some way on a daily basis.
We wanted to acknowledge good deeds that were done by students. There were certain behaviors that we would like to encourage within the entire student body. To recognize students for going out of their way to help someone or do something, we came up with the idea of a “paw” (pat) on the back since our mascot is a lion.
Students are given a lion’s paw to wear on their back and a paper paw which they are to decorate and write a few sentences explaining why they were rewarded. These paws will be displayed on a bulletin board by the 3rd grade hallway stairs. We hope these ideas will generate positive self-esteem and a school of good citizens where good deeds become a fact of life that were done without being told.
