Math Students Take The AMC Test

On February 8, 2011, selected Lisle High School math students competed in the very tough American Mathematics Contest test.  Because guessing is discouraged, a wrong answer loses points, while a blank answer is worth 1.5 points.  A correct answer is worth 6 points. The top three students in each test are:

AMC12 (juniors and seniors)

Michael Swartz 99 points, Ben Rowe 81 points, and Neal Kfoury 79.5 points.

AMC10 (freshman and sophomores)

Andrew Mogensen 90 points, Megan Pataterson 82.5 points, and Thomas Mandel 81 points.

Michael Swartz will move onto the next round of the test called AIME. Only 5% of the students taking the test move onto this level.  Congratulations to Michael and all the students who took the test.

Other freshman and sophomores students taking the test were:  Sierra Birdsell, Rachel Birkley, Jefferson Chan, Karina Galvez, Samaneh Ghassemi, David Hannan, Rachel Jennings, Carissa Lao, Ian Parks, Alexie Schwarz, Elizabeth Sullivan, Abby Tarasewicz,  Maxwell Tarasewicz, Kimberly White, Ashleigh Zurek, and Ryan Zurek.

Other junior and senior students taking the test were:  Kellie Brennan, Robert Dean, Greg Dzuricsko, Grant Fitzgerald, Becky Fuys, Jake Haseltine, Ty Howell, Reggie Jansen, Pat Keleher, Ed Kretch, Peter McQuirk, Amanda Mocarski, Samantha Mocarski, Nick Olson, Ryan Olson, Tijana Popovic, Nicole Puccini, Dylan Sinn, Jacob Tarasewicz, Ryan Twaddle, Matthew Wenzel, and Daniel Wroble.
