Third Grade AT Math Studies Measurement
For the past five weeks the students in Mrs. Jewell’s AT math class have been working with Mrs. Hurt on a measurement unit from Project M-3. They learned how to measure using rulers, yardsticks, and tape measures in both centimeters and inches. Students studied benchmarks and how to use them to make accurate predictions. Throughout the unit students used lots of critical thinking and problem solving. They really learned to look at math in a whole new way! The final project was to use their body measurements as benchmarks to create a life-size replica of the Yeti.
