Lisle 5th Grade Student Artist Wins Award
Schiesher Elementary School 5th grade student Katie Romo went to Illinois State University recently to be honored for her art work. She is one of forty K-12 Illinois students chosen for exhibiting originality, excellent craftsmanship, and creative use of the elements and principles of design in her art. Katie drew and painted a Chinese dragon set in a scroll decorated with the Chinese characters for her name and "dragon".
Katie competed with hundreds and hundreds of other young Illinois artists, and her work was selected by a panel of judges from the Illinois Art Education Association. Katie's dragon was painted last year when she was a 4th grader in Mrs. Staszak's art class.
Another Lisle student, Emily Fiedler, was also honored for her work "Brian's Eyes". Emily's work was created last year when she was a senior at Lisle High School working with art instructor, Venessa Hardy. Emily is currently a freshman at the University of Illinois.
Their award winning art work will tour the state of Illinois for the next year before returning to Lisle.
Congratulations Katie and Emily! Congratulations Lisle District #202!
