LJHS Drill Team Captures 2nd at Grayslake Competition
On Sunday January 22nd, the Lisle Junior High Drill Team coached by Abbey Vavrik competed in a dance competition at Grayslake Central High School. The girls, sixth through eighth grade, attended the competition with the Lisle High School Dance Team for the second time.
Over the past two weeks, the drill team committed to extended practices where they worked, learned, and perfected a pom routine for the competition. At 6 am, the girls boarded a school bus with the high school dance team and drove to Grayslake where they prepped for a very big day. For many of them this was their first time competing in front of judges and a large audience. Performing to a remix of “Love You Like a Love Song” by Selena Gomez, the girls danced, twirled, and leaped their way into second place! The routine was performed with energy and pride. The girls were supported by many parents, siblings, and friends at the competition and felt excited and proud to be a part of such an encouraging and positive team. It was a great day had by all!
In order to encourage dance from junior high to high school, Coach Vavrik and high school dance team coach, Bonny Czerkies work together to help make the transition a smooth, comfortable, and fun one! Come and support your Lisle Drill Team at any eighth grade girls or boys home basketball game at the junior high. Be proud ladies! You represented Lisle well and should be very proud of your hard work and success this year!
