5th Graders Raise Money for Kenyan School
Kenya fundraiser tradition in its fourth year
The fifth graders of Schiesher Elementary School should be proud of their fundraising efforts for Sofia Primary School in Kenya, Africa. Through a Pen Pal program called “Kenya Connect” and a reading program “Pennies for Pages” the students raised over $2500.00 to be put towards various needs at the school. This was our third year raising money for the school and the students have done it again! In the past, money was raised for new water tanks, electricity, technology updates, and new desks and furniture for students and staff. This year, Sofia Primary School used the donated money for sidewalks, cement floors, windows, paint, and other upkeep supplies for their school. As the students raised money, they participated in various culture enriching activities such as pen pal letters with the students of Sofia Primary, readings, a Zumba speaker, story telling, games, and more! Each year we look forward to this program and are always proud of our students’ and the community of Lisle’s effort and generosity in supporting this program! Be proud fifth graders! The students and teachers of Sofia Primary and Schiesher thank you!
