Student Congress
by Marti Truemper
Student Congress is comprised of thirty-nine students who are either elected by the entire student body or are appointed by the Student Congress advisor, Mrs. Truemper. Student Congress exposes students to leadership conferences and leadership opportunities. The main goal of Student Congress is to contribute to the well-being and morale of the student population and the community.
Student Congress is totally in charge of all Home Coming activities, school dances, and spirits days. Spirit days are designed to promote school unity and harmless competition. In addition to activities which benefit the student body, Student Congress also sponsors a winter food and clothing drive for needy area residents; in addition, in March Student Congress sponsors an annual Turn-About Dance which this year raised $1,500 for Support the Troops of Illinois. Last spring, Student Congress sponsored what will now become an annual spring volleyball tournament. The tournament was well attended and raised $1000.00 for the West Suburban Animal Shelter. Student Congress advisor, Mrs. Truemper, encourages all Lisle Senior High School students to run for office in the Student Congress spring elections. Being involved in student government is a great way to get involved in school and community activities while having fun at the same time!
