CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
1. Supplies-Students MUST bring supplies everyday to class. Classroom supplies include books, notebooks, pens, pencils and paper.
2. Tardy-Students must be in the room when the bell rings or they will be marked tardy. Please review the high school’s policy on tardiness.
3. Respect-is the magic word and the way of life in my classroom. All activities, discussion, games, actions, etc. are carried out in a way that we respect and care about each other. I will not allow “put downs” in my room or ANY swearing. Respect includes my behavior towards you.
4. Open communication-Any problem that you may have with the classroom procedures should be discussed with me. If you are unable to talk to me before or after class, time can be arranged before or after school. Many times students will come to me with a personal problem. I am a good listener and I really care if my students are “hurting”.
5. School property- Take pride in your school by taking care of it! Students who do not follow this rule…i.e. get the bright idea to write on desk, walls, posters, etc… will be punished. Hopefully, we will not have to deal with this issue.
6. Restroom passes- You will be allowed to go to the restroom only upon an emergency. In the past, too many students have abused this right. I will determine if the situation is an emergency.
7. Dress Code- Know that I DO enforce the dress code per the student handbook. If you are found in violation of the code you will be asked either to turn your shirt inside out or you will be asked to get a covering of some type. After the first warning you will be formally written up

can meet with you before or after school.
Course Work for December and January
Traditional - We are starting our Macbeth unit. My goal is to get my students to enjoy Shakespeare, but this can only be accomplished if they understand the language. In order to accomplish this task, we all participate by taking parts and by reading the play in class. At the end of each act, we complete a study guide which entails both basic and higher level thinking questions. The unit is culminated with an examination and a video or live presentation project.
Honors III - We are starting a unit on Macbeth which will be read in class. At the end of each act, we complete a study guide which entails mostly upper level thinking questions. The unit is culminated with an examination and a video or live presentation on one of the scenes in Macbeth
Sophomores - The first week of December will be spent finishing our unit on the Scarlet Letter. We have spent considerable time on relating Hawthorne's thoughts on hidden sin to his works. After break, the sophomores will be presenting their demonstration speeches. My students should be thinking about what they are going to demonstrate in front of the class. Students can show how to play a musical instrument, how to paint, how to swing a golf club, how to make various arts and crafts, etc. This presentation is usually very entertaining.
Advice to parents and students on improving grades:
1. Pay attention in class and when told to do so, take notes.
2. Study notes for tests.
3. Ask questions when necessary.
4. Bring books, paper and writing implements to class.
4. Ask for extra help which can be given before or after school or during a study hall if it coincides with Mrs. Truemper's planning period.
5. Save all tests to study for the final.
My classes change second semester. I will lose my 2nd hour sophomores and my 4th hour Honors II class. I will add a 2nd hour and 6th hour Writing for College class. Be prepared to work hard seniors!
