Hello High School Band Parents!
I thought it would be a good time to share some reminders about our busy February coming up. Please open and read the two attachments. One is our LBPO quarterly newsletter put together by Lisa Ruby & Tom Trzeciak. Thanks & enjoy! *Pay particular attention to the HS Band calendar, there have been some minor adjustments and additions.

You should have received the Cabaret information through the mail. This is the annual Cabaret Night fund raiser. Please plan on attending and sign-up to help in any way that you can! It is very important that we have a large turn-out for this enjoyable event including raffles, great jazz, tasty treats and more! All band students will be given Grand Raffle tickets to take home on Wed., Feb. 1st.
*Next Pep Band Performance is Thursday, Feb. 2. (next week) Students should arrive no later than 6:15.
*Jazz Band (Mr. Schraub) and Jazz Combo (Mr. Gumina) will be performing at the New Trier Jazz Festival on Saturday, Feb.4. They will be gone for the entire day.
*Thursday, Feb. 9th is our required evening rehearsal so that percussion and winds can rehearse together. Symphonic Band & Percussion will be from 7:00-8:10. Concert Band & Percussion will be from 8:20-9:30. Further details and adjustments in schedules will be distributed in the near future.
*Friday, Feb. 10th is our last Pep Band Performance. Students should arrive no later than 6:15.
*Wednesday, Feb. 15th is our next HS Band concert. The student should arrive no later than 6:50 PM. The concert is in the Auditorium at 7:30 PM.
*Saturday, Feb. 18th is Cabaret. Many students will need to be here for set-up and decorations from about 8:30-3:00. Starting tomorrow, (1/27/12,) students will have the opportunity to sign-up for duties for the evening. This includes waiter/waitress, kitchen help, coat check, decorations, etc. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the instrument storage area. ALL HIGH SCHOOL BAND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT! Jazz performers will set-up during the day and perform in the evening (they do not have to sign-up for waiter/waitress, kitchen, coat check jobs).
Finally, I have applied for the Jazz Ensemble to participate in the UIC High School Jazz Festival on Monday, Feb. 27th. I will notify students and parents of details if we are scheduled.
Students are now working on music for our February Concert which will be on Feb. 15th. There will be a required evening rehearsal on Thurs., Feb. 9th in preparation for this performance.
Please plan on attending our enjoyable family event we call "Cabaret Night". The date for this is Sat., Feb 18th. All high school and junior high jazz groups will perform. All other high school band members are required to sign-up for other assorted "jobs" such as hostesses, servers, coat checkers, etc. Much more information will be coming out soon!
