LISLE HIGH SCHOOL BAND - "A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE"
Congratulations to the Symphonic Band on their outstanding performance at the Midwest Music Festival at Lemont High School on Saturday, February 22nd! They received an "Excellent" rating from a panel of distinguished adjudicators.
On Saturday, March 8th, the Lisle High School Percussion Ensemble will perform at the Elk Grove High School Percussion Festival. Percussionists should arrive at Lisle HS by 8:30 AM. The bus leaves at 9:00 AM. The ensemble performs at 11:00 AM. We will return to Lisle no later than 2:00 PM. Mr. Schraub will accompany the Percussionists. Students will need money for lunch.
Also on Saturday, March 8, Lisle High School band students will be competing at the IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest hosted by Hinsdale South High School in Darien. The following students will perform solos and be adjudicated by expert musicians: Andrew Trzeciak, Anna Trzeciak, Hanna Altpeter, Jason Lauridsen, Harsha Koritala, Olivia Mullas, Logann Stierle, Oliv Er Phreykz, Riley McDorman, Lauren Holub, Peter Kfoury, Edie Kocher-Cowan, and Ashley SaLee.
On Monday, March 10, select Lisle High School band students will participate in the I-8 Honor Band Festival. They will rehearse all day at Manteno High School, work with a guest conductor, and perform an evening concert to finish their day. The students participating this year are: Edie Kocher-Cowan, Erin Johnson, Alyssa Crile, Lauren Holub, Kara Kendra, George Ancede, Tim Temmerman, Kyle Dwyer, Kati Young, Anthony Thornton, Ryan Wood, and Sierra Birdsell. Students will receive a free pizza lunch – but will need to have money for dinner.
All Lisle High School Band students will have a required evening rehearsal on Monday, March 24. Exact times are not yet finalized. Concert Band will rehearse first from approximately 7:15-8:15 PM. The Symphonic band will be second from approximately 8:15-9:15. Please check Spring sports schedules and let me know of conflicts. (tentative schedule attached)
Please join us for our annual Lisle District 202 Band Festival on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:00 PM. This annual concert features all of the Lisle 202 Bands from grades 5-12. The concert is in the LHS South Gymnasium. High school students need to arrive in formal wear by 6:10 PM. (Students involved in Spring sports will be allowed to arrive a bit later due to games.)
Right after Spring Break, the Lisle High School Concert Band and Percussionists will perform at the VanderCook BandFest on Tuesday, April 8th. This will be an all-day field trip. Students will need lunch money (or bring a bag lunch). Students will return to school for 7th period. They will get a chance to hear other school bands in the area, perform our musical selections for an audience of students and adjudicators, and finally receive a half-hour clinic by one of the adjudicators. Concert and Percussion parents, please consider being a chaperone on this trip if your schedule allows.
The Lisle High School Jazz Ensemble will perform a special Jazz Concert for our local "seasoned citizens" at The Devonshire of Lisle. This community service performance will be at the Devonshire is scheduled for Monday, April 14th at 7:00 PM.
The annual Lisle High School Senior Recital will take place in the LHS Auditorium on Friday, April 25th at 7:00 PM. Please come and support some of our senior vocalists, instrumentalists, and artists. I have encouraged ALL senior band members to consider performing at this event.
The last event planned for April will be our annual Lisle High School Band Banquet. This year the event will be on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30 PM in the high school commons. More details will be available at a later date.
