Important Parent Information
This begins a series of four monthly installments about health concerns among teenagers, all to be found on my web page. The purpose of each installment will be to give District 202 parents some basic information about the nature of, in this case eating disorders, and some links to information parents will find very useful about this disorder.
Next month we will feature another topic in a like manner. LSHS makes no claim of expertise. In all areas of “concern”, it is never a bad idea to contact an expert, a doctor, a counselor, etc. However, LSHS believes that parents equipped with information and caring can play a role in helping their students find safety, happiness and success.
The first link below is an overview from the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Eating Disorders, a nationally recognized group. The second about treatment centers for those with eating disorders. The third is about “Thinspo”, something that may exacerbate the eating disorder problem. The fourth is about three major, interactive health challenges that face more and more young women, and lastly is another general site about eating disorders. This site is at the University of Michigan .
