Course Descriptions:

Sixth Grade Art is a required nine-week course. This course includes an introduction to basic color theory; an exploration in ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpting and art forms and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with various art materials and techniques. They will explore the artistic process, from conceiving and developing ideas, creating art, talking about it, and working with personal meaning in their own work , as well as when viewing others' art.  Lessons will incorporate various elements and principles of art as well as careers in art, artists, art history, art criticism, and multicultural art.

Seventh Grade Art is a required nine-week course. This course includes an introduction to portrait drawing, perspective drawing, and other drawing techniques. Students will also explore ceramic sculpture.  Students will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with various art materials and techniques. They will explore the artistic process, from conceiving and developing ideas, creating art, talking about it, and working with personal meaning in their own work , as well as when viewing others' art.  Lessons will incorporate various elements and principles of art as well as careers in art, artists, art history, art criticism, and multicultural art.

Eighth Grade Art is a required nine-week course. This course explores techniques in various media including photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, and printmaking. Students will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with various art materials and techniques. They will explore the artistic process, from conceiving and developing ideas, creating art, talking about it, and working with personal meaning in their own work , as well as when viewing others' art.  Lessons will incorporate various elements and principles of art as well as careers in art, artists, art history, art criticism, and multicultural art.
