Smart 911 - Free DuPage County Service

Since 2011, more than 25,000 DuPage County households have registered for Smart911. This innovative public safety service enhances the information a 911 call provides during an emergency. Users go online to create detailed profiles with critical medical and family information that helps first responders when a 911 call is placed. The service is offered by the Emergency Telephone System Board of DuPage County and is supported by existing 911 fees.

Smart911 is especially valuable to households with children as well as anyone with a physical or cognitive disability. One particularly important feature: The profile can display users’ home and work addresses, which is critical, since more than 70 percent of emergency calls are made with mobile phones—whose exact location can’t always be determined by GPS from a cell tower. It can also list medical conditions and medications, as well as emergency contacts.

For more information, please download the informational flier: Smart 911 - DuPage County Service

Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau is Spreading Warmth to Lisle Schools

As the holidays approach, the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau is taking part in two  very special holiday outreach collections assisting those in need in our community.

The first special outreach is a Holiday Food Drive. You can Feed it Forward by providing non-perishable holiday food donations. The Lisle CVB will deliver the non-perishable food to the West Suburban Community Pantry - a non-profit organization serving DuPage County where they provide food and personal care items for 4,000 people each month.

Among the items in demand besides “extra holiday fixings:” canned meats, vegetables and fruit; canned fish; peanut butter; jelly or jam; soups, canned or instant; pasta; rice; cereal, hot and cold; powdered milk; dry beans; baby formula; baby food or cereal; diapers and wipes. All donations are greatly needed and appreciated!

Along with their Holiday Food Drive, the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau is taking part in their 2nd Winter Warmth Drive assisting children in our community. This year, the Lisle CVB is working with the Lisle School District 202 and are currently collecting new and or gently used children’s winter coats, hats, mitten/gloves, and scarves and distributing them to Lisle schools. All sizes are needed!

Starting on Monday, November 2, The Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau will kick off both the Holiday Winter Warmth Drive and the Holiday Outreach Food Drive. Two collection boxes will be located in the Lisle Village Hall lobby, 925 Burlington Avenue, between, 8 am - 5 pmMonday – Friday, where members of the community can drop off their donations. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off through Wednesday, November 25th and winter clothing may be dropped off through Wednesday, December 30th.

Veteran's Day Salute

The Lisle Jr. High Symphonic Band, directed by Ms. Kiener-Barnett and Concert Choir, directed by Mrs. Kerback, will present their Veteran’s Day Salute on Wednesday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the LJHS auditorium.  This program has become an annual tradition at LJHS and provides an opportunity for us to pay tribute to area veterans.  The Lisle Ross Bishop VFW will be present to present colors and address the audience.  This program has grown from a small idea many years ago to a full program including patriotic music, poetry and history.  In addition to the National Anthem, some of the musical selections include; Songs of American Patriots, America the Beautiful, American Heroes, Hymn To The Fallen and God Bless America.

Many veterans from Lisle and surrounding communities who have attended in the past have commented on how moved they have been by this program.  We hope that everyone will take the time to attend and help to honor those who have served our country.  Admission is free and there will be a reception following the program.
