Canine Searches
The use of canine searches in area schools has grown dramatically in the last decade due in part to the increase in recreational drug use by teens throughout the suburbs.  Please know that canine searches will be utilized as a deterrent to selling or accessing drugs at our high school, junior high school, and the surrounding community.  Periodic canine searches are not a cure-all, yet they can limit access and in turn stop the sale to students who have not previously used drugs.  It is our hope that when the searches are conducted that the canines do not find any illegal substances in our school.

Attn: Parents of Mr. McLear's Math Students

The math grade this year is a little different than traditional grades.  This year is a mastery learning grade, which means that the students have to show that they have mastered a specific Common Core standard in order to earn the points in their gradebook.  However, the grade is a year-long grade, which means that your student can take a second (and third and fourth, etc.) chance to prove that (s)he has mastered these skills and improve their grade accordingly.  If (s)he shows improvement, then I will wipe out the low scores and replace them with the most recent version of that score.

Please download the letter from Mr. McLear for a full explaination, along with suggestions for helpful resources. Grading Explaination from Mr. McLear
