Dear Lisle 202 Parents,

Lisle Community Unit School District 202 is working with the Illinois State Board of Education in providing a unique opportunity for teachers, parents, and middle and high school students across Illinois to have a role in improving their schools. As a parent, your voice is essential to help us understand the conditions at your child's school and guide improvement.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey  identifies five indicators that can lead to important student outcomes, including test score gains; Effective Leadership, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environment, and Ambitious Instruction. Research has shown that schools strong on these indicators are ten times more likely to improve student learning.

ISBE is asking that one parent from each family complete the online survey by April 25, 2014. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 30 percent of parents take the survey. All individual survey responses will be completely confidential. BEST aims to provide diverse social and cultural experiences including but not limited to the history and contributions of people of color, strategies for academic success, and an outlet to discuss challenges unique to Black and African American students. Ultimately, BEST will serve as a vehicle to create, cultivate, and challenge students while celebrating cultural diversity and building student unity and strong character.  Students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are welcome to join BEST.  Faculty sponsors are Ms. Nelson and Mr. Slowiak.  We hope that your student will come and see what BEST is all about by attending on Thursday, February 20.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up

When dropping off or picking up your child, please do not enter the driveway and block the entrance with your vehicle.  This is a safety issue for our students who walk because the crosswalk also is then blocked and students are forced to walk in front of or behind the vehicle.  Another issue is that our busses are unable to depart because the vehicle also sticks out into the street.  Please move forward as space opens up in front of you and do not stand in one spot.

Thank you.

Patrick Sharp Visits Lisle Junior High

Inserted ImageOur Lisle Junior High students had a great afternoon with Chicago Blackhawk Patrick Sharp on Monday, October 7, 2013.  Patrick's visit began with an all-school assembly which included comments by him and a question and answer session with our boys and girls.   Patrick then went from classroom to classroom, interacting with the students and taking a picture with each group.

Patrick's visit came about due to Local Boy Scout Troop 108 collecting and donating nearly 75,000 items to Goodwill Cares, winning first place in Goodwill's "Pass It On Donation Challenge."  Our school was then designated to receive the appearance by Mr. Sharp.

The individuals that were here representing Goodwill, The Blackhawks, and Patrick Sharp himself remarked about the enthusiasm, politeness, and respectful energy level of our students.  Patrick Sharp showed himself to be a great guy. He was friendly and accommodating to everyone he met.

All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon, and a day we will never forget!  To view a video of the day produced by the Blackhawks go to:  http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=453857
