Schiesher General Music and Chorus
Hello, my name is Arlene Leonard and I have been teaching general music and chorus for 20 years. Each year in kindergarten, Third grade, Fourth grade, and Fifth grade music classes, the students and will engage in a variety of music activities. These activities will include singing, movement, music games, playing instruments, improvising, composing, and performing a music program.
The fourth and fifth grade students also have an opportunity to join the Schiesher choruses. Each chorus meets before school two mornings a week. In chorus, we are able to go further in becoming better singers by working on posture, breathing, tone production, harmony, and reading music. We perform several concerts with many styles of music.
In 6th grade general music at Lisle Jr. High, students will study a unit on the history of Classical Music, and a unit on reading music by playing the ukulele.
