COVID-19 Testing Program

 
We are pleased to share that we have partnered with Northshore Clinical to offer COVID-19 testing options including a Test-to-Stay program for our students and staff. If you would like to opt-in, please click the button below. Please see below for information about the testing programs.
 

COVID-19 Testing Program FAQ

What is the Test-to-Stay option?

Test to Stay is a program that allows individuals identified as close contacts to a positive COVID-19 case in a school setting to continue in-person attendance following the exposure by participating in a testing regimen. Currently, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals must be excluded from school if identified as a close contact for 10 days if a negative test result is confirmed between days 5-7. If no test is obtained, then the student identified as a close contact must be excluded from school for 14 days. 

The program has been approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) recently made this option available to school districts in our county. 


Who can participate in the Test-to-Stay program?

Students (unvaccinated & partially vaccinated) who are identified as a high-risk close contact due to exposure in school may participate in the Test-to-Stay program as long as masks are consistently and correctly at the time of exposure. Household exposures are not eligible to participate.


What are the benefits of participating in the Test-to-Stay program?

Students who participate in the Test-to-Stay program will be able to remain in school as long as no symptoms develop.


What type of test is used?

A cheek swab will be used to collect a sample to test for COVID-19. The sample will be sent to the Northshore Clinical laboratory to conduct an RT-PCR test consistent with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the DuPage County Health Department guidelines.


Who will administer the test to my child?

The school nurse or designated trained staff member will administer the test or, if the student is old enough, supervise and instruct the student on how to collect the sample themselves.


How long does it take to administer the test?

It takes about a minute to administer the COVID-19 test.


When will my child be tested?

If your child is identified as a high-risk close contact to a positive COVID-19 case in school and has no symptoms, he/she may participate in the Test-to-Stay program. The student will be tested on days 1, 3, 5, 7 following the exposure to the positive case.

The school nurse will always contact you prior to administering a COVID-19 test to confirm participation.
 

Can my child get tested at school if he/she has symptoms?

If your child is sent home from school due to symptoms, he/she may be tested before leaving the school in place of the parent obtaining a test at a third-party location such as Walgreens or CVS, etc. The student will only be tested on the day that symptoms began if in school (not on days 1, 3, 5, 7).

If your child develops symptoms at home, please do not send him/her to school. A negative test will be necessary to return to school from a third-party testing site such as Walgreens, CVS, or other testing site.


Will I be notified of the test results?

You will be notified directly from the lab of the test results following each testing (positive or negative). If your child tests positive, the lab will contact you directly and you will be contacted by the school. The school nurse will discuss the Return to School Protocol with you at that time.


How long does it take for the results to be returned?

Northshore Clinical Labs is running about 24 hours to return test results at this time.


Will there be a charge for testing?

No. Reimbursement for COVID-19 testing is covered 100% by all insurance payors with no deductible, co-pays, coinsurance, or any other out of pocket expense.  In the event your insurance provider does not cover COVID-19 testing, you will not be responsible for any payment.

Reimbursement for the uninsured individuals COVID-19 testing is provided by the Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA requires individuals to provide a copy of state issued identification card and signed attestation that they do not have any medical insurance at the time of testing.


Will my child be tested weekly?

No. Lisle 202 is not conducting a screening testing program for all students. Students will only be tested if they opt-in, are identified as a high-risk close contact to a positive COVID-19 case or if the student is symptomatic at school.

Do I have to register now to participate in the testing programs?

No. However it is preferred to expedite the process. You will be able to opt-in at a future date if you desire.


Can my child participate in sports if they participate in the Test to Stay Program?

Students who participate in test to stay will be able to continue to attend school in-person and participate in athletic/club practices as long as a negative result is returned. Students will not be able to compete for the testing window (7 days).

Students who do not participate in the test to stay program may not practice or compete for a minimum of 10 days according to school exclusion protocols.
