School Social Workers
School Social Workers are partners in the education process. Their role is to assist parents, students and school staff to identify needs that interfere with learning, as well as provide support to help resolve social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
CASEL defines Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as "
...the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions."
