Social Workers

School Social Workers are partners in the education process. Their role is to assist parents, students and school staff to identify needs that interfere with learning, as well as provide support to help resolve social, emotional and behavioral challenges.

What is Social Emotional Learning?

CASEL defines Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as "

...the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions."

Social Emotional Learning Standards

  1. Develop self-awareness & self-management skills to achieve school and life success.
  2. Use social-awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships.
  3. Demonstrate decision-making skills and responsible behaviors in personal, school, and community contexts.
