Our 8th grade scientists put their knowledge to work by creating models of the earth's tectonic plates. During our unit, we learned how mountains move and grow and analyzed the different types of plate boundaries that make this growth and movement possible. Students used building materials to create a specific plate boundary type after drafting a plan for their boundary type. Students were extremely engaged and invested in this modeling project and were determined to make their models truly representative of how Earth's plates move and interact, while physically being able to move itself.
