Fourth Graders Practice Persuasion

Lisle Elementary students learn from the primary grades the importance of using tools to research topics and how to identify when information is accurate and helpful. Over the past month, the 4th Grade Accelerated Learning English-Language Arts students have been applying these skills to research countries and learn key information. Students then used the information to develop a persuasive writing piece in the form of a travel guide. The travel guides were designed to utilize their research to highlight interesting places and landmarks, provide information about the country's culture and geography, and persuade the reader to visit their country.

Once the travel brochures were complete, the students practiced their oral persuasion skills by presenting their brochures to the 5th graders in Mrs. Yaniz's class. The students had a great time presenting, learning, collaborating, and practicing persuasion together!
