We are pleased to share that Lisle High School has once again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top high schools in the nation!

Lisle High School ranks among the top 5% of high schools nationally and the top 7% in Illinois in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.

Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates public high schools across the country using several measures of student achievement, college readiness, graduation rates, and the performance of underserved students. This year's rankings are based on previously reported school performance data from more than 27,000 public high schools from the 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

Ranking Criteria

U.S. News & World Report evaluates high schools using six weighted factors:

College Readiness – 30%
Measures the proportion of students who took and passed at least one Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) exam.

State Assessment Proficiency – 20%
Measures student proficiency on state-required assessments.

State Assessment Performance – 20%
Examines how student performance on state assessments compares with expectations based on the school’s student population.

Underserved Student Performance – 10%
Evaluates the performance of historically underserved students on state assessments compared with underserved students statewide.

College Curriculum Breadth – 10%
Measures student participation and success across multiple AP or IB subject areas.

Graduation Rate – 10%
Measures the proportion of students who graduate within four years.
