Lisle 202 is extremely proud of our Lisle High School Science Olympiad team who capped off a season of growth, resilience, and remarkable achievement with the State Championship in the A Division at the Illinois State Science Olympiad Tournament.
Science Olympiad is a rigorous academic competition where students work in pairs or small teams to take on 23 different events—ranging from written tests and data analysis to engineering-based challenges that require building functional devices. Events change each year, keeping students engaged and constantly learning. Teams compete for individual event medals, as well as cumulative team scores that determine overall rankings.
The Lisle team began their season in October with five competitions leading up to the State Tournament. Their efforts culminated in a strong showing at the College of DuPage Regional in March, one of the most competitive regionals in the state. There, Lisle earned a 5th place finish, securing a bid to the State Competition.
The State Competition was held on Saturday, April 12th at the University of Illinois where Lisle competed against 26 other schools. Focused and prepared, the team delivered an exceptional performance, earning top-five medals in 10 out of 23 events. When final scores were tallied, Lisle emerged victorious, finishing with a total of 36 points higher than the second place teams.
This incredible victory reflects months of dedication, teamwork, and academic excellence. Congratulations to the Lisle High School Science Olympiad team on a truly outstanding season and a well-earned State Championship!
