Furthering our school’s culture outlined in P.R.I.D.E., R.I.S.E. stands for Responsibility, Integrity, Selflessness, & Empathy. This is a class created for students with special needs in PE  and their individual needs are at the forefront of curriculum planning. Everything is adapted so each individual student has an opportunity to develop skills, feel successful, and most importantly feel safe!  

This class would NOT be possible without our student leaders who volunteered to give up their own traditional PE class experiences to be a part of RISE. This approach is founded on creating new and authentic relationships. RISE also provides the opportunity for student leaders to grow as individuals. Student leaders get to be a support, an advocate, and most importantly a friend to our students with special needs. We currently have 19 7th and 8th grade student leaders participating in the program.  

We couldn't have asked for a better start to the school year in R.I.S.E. PE! All of the students are actively engaged, building positive relationships, and having a lot of fun all along the way.
