LJHS Student Earns Writing Award
#LionProud Header

Congratulations to seventh grader Salma Q. for her hard work that earned her recognition in the annual Illinois Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) writing contest for 6-12th graders in an English language program. Students are asked to share about their bilingual/bicultural experiences from their home country or the US. This year three LJHS students bravely shared their stories and submitted: Brit F, Robert R, and Salma Q. Congratulations to Salma who won 2nd place, a cash prize, and will be recognized at an awards ceremony! The judges commented that Salma's touching narrative took them along her journey from Afghanistan to Illinois. Salma came to Lisle two years ago this month and we are extremely proud of all her hard work!
