Dena Hicks - 1994

In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we catch up with Class of 1994 graduate, Dena Hicks.

What are you doing now?

I am in my 24th year of teaching. I teach 4th grade at Lisle Elementary School.

How did Lisle 202 prepare you for this role?

When I was in 4th grade I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I also knew I wanted to come back to teach in Lisle because I loved going to school here. Lisle 202 prepared me for my role by providing such an amazing learning experience from kindergarten through 12th grade.

What is your advice for current Lisle Lions?

My advice is to be proud of our town and our school district. Get involved, show spirit, and take pride in being a Lisle Lion. "We're from Lisle, couldn't be prouder!" ;)

Who inspired you during your tenure in Lisle 202?

All of my teachers inspired me to be the best teacher that I can be. I can't mention just one or two people because I'd be leaving so many out. Everyone in Lisle 202 made a lasting impression on me and made a positive impact on my life.

What is your favorite memory from being a Lisle Lion?

I had a lot of fun as a Lisle Lion. Some favorite memories include celebrating perfect attendance with Mr. Corso at Olive Garden, attending all high school sporting events (we rode a pep bus for $1 to the Friday night away games!), Homecoming Decath-o-Rama (The first one ever was my junior year!), building floats for the Homecoming parades, and spring musicals. Spring musical was always a favorite memory each year.
