Don Krause - 1972

In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we catch up with Class of 1972 graduate, Don Krause.

What are you doing now?

I am enjoying our first grandson, assisting my wife of 39 years, Kathy, with advertising her business, supporting local candidates, serving on the board of the Carlin Nalley Foundation as the Communication Director, and enjoying being semi-retired.

What is your advice for current Lisle Lions?

Take advantage of the wide diversity of people, academics, and extracurricular activities Lisle 202 offers. Do not get tied into just one group of friends, learn from everyone. We are all created equal, but we all have different gifts you can gain great insight by listening. You might not agree with them, but you can understand their point of view. Try a sport, if that doesn’t work go out for band or chorus, try out for a play, join chess club if none of these floats your boat, try something else.

Who inspired you during your tenure in Lisle 202?

Sam Galovich; He shared insight from his experience ranged from playing professional football, to retiring from the FBI, to assistant principal at Lisle.
Mr. Ciesielski; He used unique ways to reach unreachable people (sophomore biology students).
Carlin Nalley; He took what he was given and made the most of it. He also never forgot anyone and was always looking to help to guide me or any others he met.
There are more…

What is your favorite memory from being a Lisle Lion?

After winning the championship football game in Dwight, we were whooping it up in the visitor's locker room. Lisle Athletic Director came in and congratulated us on being Lisle's first North East Conference Champions. That was the icing on the cake and made the 50 mile bus trip home go quickly.
