Mya Manns - 2017

In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we catch up with Class of 2017 graduate, Mya Manns.

What are you doing now?

I’m working as an assistant project manager for a legal tech company.

How did Lisle 202 prepare you for this role?

In my job, I work with a team of 10 project managers. I couldn’t think of a better school to prepare me for this than Lisle. The close-knit community of Lisle creates an environment where it’s obvious the students and faculty genuinely support and care for one another. Lisle helped me learn to be a teammate in all the best ways.

What is your advice for current Lisle Lions?

Enjoy every moment; it flies by so quickly! Always remember to be kind to yourself and others - empathy is so valuable!

Who inspired you during your tenure in Lisle 202?

I have to give a shout out to Bonny Czerkies, who not only nurtured my growth in dance, but also as a woman. I look up to her to this day and am so thankful for the person she is! Some other Lisle faculty who encouraged me and pushed me to better myself are Pat Woyna, Ron Jaegle, and Señora Sally - my Lisle experience would not have been the same without them!

What is your favorite memory from being a Lisle Lion?

I’ll never forget winning the sportsmanship award for dance at state. All 30 teams vote for another team they believe should win the award, and it’s such a testament to how Lisle encourages kindness and lifting others up. It’s also not lost on me that our coaches, Bonny Czerkies and Claudia Galvez, created a team environment that was built on love and humility. We could not have done it without them!
