One of our goals is to encourage literacy with the whole family. On Thursday, February 22nd, a Family Literacy Night was held to provide a time for our entire preschool community to dine and play together while learning about early literacy development in young preschoolers. Thanks to the generosity of our community partners Coldwell Banker Gladstone and The Life Church, the evening included dinner as well as literacy themed 'goodie' bags for all. Parents attended a short program about the progression of literacy skills during childhood and heard tips on how to support literacy growth. While the parents learned about early literacy, the students participated in an interactive read aloud led by the Lisle library's own Mr. John Ferrari. After a dinner enjoyed by all the families and volunteers, we split up into small groups to enjoy four age appropriate literacy activity stations that helped teach literacy concepts. The turnout was tremendous and a great night was had by all!!
